On Friday March 24, the Frisch Cougars faced the SAR sting for the 3rd time this season. Frisch won the first two matchups against SAR, but this time around it was SAR who came away with the win 63-46. In the first half SAR was determined to get their first win against Frisch this season behind a dominant defensive performance. The Sting jumped out to a 31-20 lead thanks to their success in scoring in the paint and their zone defense not allowing Frisch to get any clean looks.
In the second half, SAR continued their dominant inside play led by Gabe Sklar. SAR was able to convert multiple second chance opportunities into points. Frisch kept the game in reach thanks to big time shots from Isaac Schiffman and Sammy Zelenetz. Alex Zakheim did not score as much as usual but was excellent finding open looks for his teammates and finished with 9 assists.
SAR will advance to the Tier I semifinals on Sunday while Frisch will now be in the Tier I consolation bracket.
