Playing the last game of the night in TABC, the 14th seeded Fuchs Mizrachi took on the 22nd seeded Fasman. Both teams were coming off wins in the Tier II Qualifiers, with Fuchs taking down JEC and Fasman shocking the higher seeded Maimonides.
After a few missed shots from both teams to start the game, Fuchs hit two big threes to give themselves the early lead. The teams traded points from there on out, but Fuchs’ Nate Jacobs hit back to back layups to keep them ahead, ending the quarter at 12-5.
As the second quarter ran on, Fuchs refused to give up their lead, continuing their scoring charge, this time led by Ephraim Blau. From there on out the two teams matched each other, with Fuchs holding a 10 point lead at the half, up 24-14.
Fuchs continued their scoring onslaught as the second half began, quickly hitting two threes to increase their lead to 16. Blau continued to give Fasman problems, causing a clear path foul before scoring an and one off the inbound. Even as Fasman found their scoring touch, Fuchs never let up, maintaining their double digit lead, and finishing the quarter up 44-29.
In a change of tides, Fasman opened up the 4th quarter hot, with Elya Vilinsky getting back to back scores. Unfortunately for Fasman, the lead was just too much to come back from, as Fuchs never stopped pushing the ball down the court. Fasman did what they could, but Fuchs held strong as the quarter ran down, finishing the game with a strong 57-39 victory.
Fuchs Mizrahi is now one step closer to the Tier II championship, with a semifinal bout against TABC up next. Fasman will drop to the Tier II consolation, looking to pull off the upset against Ida Crown.
