With a Strong Second Half, (3) TABC Gets Past (11) Yavneh with a 66-43 Win

The TABC Storm took control of this one early and remained there throughout the game getting themselves a victory over the Yavneh’s Bulldogs 66-43. Particularly in the first half, the Bulldogs were putting up a significant fight to keep themselves in reach of TABC, but it was not enough. In the final two quarters, TABC was able to pull far ahead and finish the game with a very comfortable lead.

Yavneh entered this game coming off of upsetting Frisch to qualify for Tier I. They were clearly meant to be here and put up fierce competition for much of the game, but TABC’s offense, powered by Noah Ohayon, was too much for the Bulldogs.

The first quarter was a story of TABC constantly trying to pull away from Yavneh, and Yavneh repeatedly preventing that. Ohayon in particular managed to keep responding to TABC shots to keep his team close.

TABC continued their intense play into the second quarter and Yavneh reciprocated. The teams entered halftime with a score of 31-21 with TABC on top. Both teams executed their games very well and Yavneh even applied a press at times during the quarter to shake things up.

The Storm began to truly overpower Yavneh in the third quarter. Yavneh got creative with its defense at times, but could not sufficiently guard TABC’s powerful defense leading to a score of 47-33 entering the last quarter.

TABC produced a dominant final quarter of 19 points to close out the game with a 23 point advantage. Ohayon shot seven two-pointers, as well as three three-pointers during the game. He also had eight rebounds. Hillel Baynash was another important asset for the Storm’s offense as he put up four assists, along with draining a pair of free throws.

Despite their loss, the Bulldogs had a couple of notable individual performances. One from Natanel Benloulou who shot seven two-pointers in addition to four shots from behind the arc. Another great performance came from Shmuel Yablok, who drained five three-pointers as well as one two-pointer.

Up next, TABC will play the winner of Friday afternoon’s (2) Valley Torah vs (10) Magen David matchup in the semifinals in the Max Stern Athletic Center. With their loss, Yavneh will play in Tier I consolation.
