Let’s not overthink this one.
The Yeshiva University Maccabees head to Old Westbury Wednesday for what should be a no-nonsense, take-care-of-business night against a Panthers team that’s been searching for answers all season. Old Westbury Panthers sit at 2–4 in Skyline play and 4–12 overall, and are struggling
Historically, this matchup has tilted in Yeshiva’s way. The Macs are 17–19 all-time against Old Westbury, but more importantly? They’ve won 12 straight in this series, and most of those haven’t been close. When YU plays its game — with pace, spacing, and physicality — Old Westbury hasn’t been able to keep up.
Now comes the real test: can the Macs bring the same edge on the road that they had on one of the most emotional nights in program history?

Riding History, Staying Hungry:
Saturday night at the Max Stern Athletic Center was special. The banners, the milestones, the electricity — it all mattered. Zevi Samet poured in 23 points, passed Ryan Turell to become the program’s all-time leading scorer, and cemented himself as the most prolific bucket-getter this school has ever seen. On top of that, Elliot Steinmetz picked up career win No. 200 — a milestone that speaks to years of consistency, development, and winning habits.
It was a deserved celebration that poured into the next morning. Yet, now it’s over. This trip to Old Westbury is about maturity where Yeshiva must show they’re able to keep their eyes on the prize, being the best in the Skyline.
Impose your Playstyle:
Old Westbury struggles with size, discipline, and sustained defensive focus. The question isn’t if the Macs have the advantage — it’s whether they press it from the opening tip.
If Yeshiva controls the glass, pushes tempo early, and avoids the lazy turnovers that sometimes creep in during these “we’re supposed to win” games, this can get out of hand quickly. The talent gap is real. The execution has to match it.
