The #1-seeded DRS Wildcats will face the #8-seeded Valley Torah Cougars in a heavyweight Tier I quarterfinal matchup that promises to be a good one!
DRS enters this game following a resilient opening-round performance against #16 HA Montreal. While the Heat kept pace early, tying the game at 10-10 after the first quarter, the defending Yeshiva League champions eventually took control, securing a 63-50 victory. They continue to rely on the veteran leadership of offensive orchestrator Gabie Spodek and the relentless energy of Michael Soloman. With Elisha Tsaidi’s perimeter scoring and Yitz Bennett’s dominance on the offensive glass, the Wildcats remain the team to beat in this tournament.
Valley Torah, meanwhile, arrives to Tier I after surviving one of the most thrilling games of the opening round. Trailing #9 Berman 30-22 at the half, the Cougars showed remarkable grit, storming back to force overtime with the score tied at 52. They ultimately outlasted Berman in a dramatic 58-56 win. This battle-tested group is no stranger to the Sarachek pressure, as they are coming in as the defending Tier III champions from last year.
On paper, DRS holds the edge with their 13-1 regular-season record and back-to-back league titles. They cannot afford a slow start against the Valley Torah team that proved they can never be counted out. The Wildcats will look to establish their tempo early to avoid another drawn-out defensive battle, while Valley Torah will aim to ride the momentum from their comeback victory to another win.
