Storm Bring the Intensity Across the Bridge; Head to Tier I with 67-58 Win Over FMS

The TABC Storm started off their Sarachek 2022 run with a win against the Fuchs Mizrachi Mayhem in Thursday’s Tier I qualifier. A smart offense combined with strong rebounding contributed to the Storm’s wire-to-wire victory.

The Storm got off to a good start, going up 6-0 and forcing a Mizrachi timeout early. Mizrachi went on a run towards the end of the first, pulling within three points at the end of the quarter on a Netanel Jacobs trey right before the buzzer. TABC came out with a strong second quarter, hitting a number of three pointers and grabbing a few offensive boards. The first half ended with TABC up 35-22.

In the second half, TABC continued to roll. Every time the Mayhem put together a run, the Storm were able to put a quick stop to it with solid shooting and even better offensive rebounding. This prevented the Mayhem from stringing enough baskets together to make up ground. The Mayhem offense did provide a few highlight plays, as Jacobs had a beautiful turnaround layup along with a number of three-pointers, and Ephraim Blau threw down a huge dunk in transition that sent the MSAC crowd into a frenzy. For TABC, Eli Saks had six steals and hit two big three-pointers to help lead the Storm to victory.

A short Mizrachi run at the end of the game was too little too late, as TABC held on for the 67-58 victory. The win sends TABC to the Tier I Quarterfinal Friday against the winner of (5) Shalhevet vs (12) Ida Crown on Friday at 12:30 pm at the MSAC. Mizrachi will face off against (19) Maimonides in the Tier II Qualifier Friday at 9:00 am at TABC.
