On Sunday at 1 PM, the (15) MTA Lions will face off against the (19) Maimonides M-Cats for a Tier III semifinal game in the Max Stern Athletic Center gym.
After being relegated to Tier III, MTA has found its way and it looks to advance to the finals. On Saturday evening, the Lions held off (23) HA Montreal in a hard-fought effort, winning by a ten point margin. The Lions’ efforts on Saturday were fueled by impressive performances from Gavriel Rudman, Daniel Wolk, and Yosef Shmuel. They each had a great night on offense and defense, in addition to playing a huge role in keeping the ball in MTA’s hands. Daniel Book will also be key to the Lions. The senior had a combined 20 points in the first two games his team appeared in during the tournament.
Maimonides looked great on Saturday. They were in control and dominated SCY High, sending themselves to this semifinal matchup. The M-Cats’ offense on Saturday was powered by Eitan Bessler, Shabtai Kaplan, Nathan Weinstock, and Josh Saks. They each had five two-pointers. Bessler and Kaplan also combined for several steals, assists, rebounds, and blocks to keep their team in control. Look for that same combo to be the key to the M-Cats’ success in today’s matchup.
This exciting Tier III semifinal matchup will tip-off from the Max Stern Athletic Center at 1 PM. This game will be broadcast by MacsLive; you can watch it live here.
