On Sunday at 11:30 AM, the (13) YULA Panthers will face off against the (17) HAFTR Hawks for a Tier III semifinal game in the Max Stern Athletic Center gym.
After failing to qualify for Tier I, the Panthers have found their stride in Tier III. On Saturday evening, YULA defeated (21) Beren 56-47 to advance to this semifinal matchup. There are several players on YULA that have been and will be, the key to their success. Forward Michael Nagel has been a powerhouse on offense. On Thursday during the Tier I qualifier vs DRS, he scored 14 points and has only been piling on more points in the games since then. Yishai Rosenblatt, Noam Abramson, and Joshua Barak have also been important to YULA’s offense having combined for dozens of points over the last few days. Additionally, Eitan Kavosh will be key to YULA’s ball control as he has been very successful in getting rebounds.
After failing to qualify for Tier II on Friday, HAFTR has also found a home in Tier III. The Hawks staged an incredible upset of (9) Katz on Saturday evening winning 44-30 to advance to the semifinals. HAFTR has a height disadvantage in this one, so their bigger players will need to carry the Hawks through this game. Senior forward Haimy Salem will be key. With his 6”2 stature, he scored nearly a dozen points on Thursday vs (16) Berman. Sophomore guard, Kevin Levy, as well as senior center, Andrew Solinsky will be key for the Hawks as well with their offensive capabilities.
This exciting Tier III semifinal matchup will tip-off from the Max Stern Athletic Center at 11:30 AM. This game will be broadcast by MacsLive; you can watch it live here.
