The Yeshiva University Maccabees kept their momentum rolling with another Saturday night victory, handling Old Westbury 81-62 at the Max Stern Athletic Center. As he often does, it was Zevi Samet leading the charge with 29 points, adding five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Max Zakheim dropped 15 points, while Yoav Oselka added 12 to round out the double-digit scorers.
How It Happened;
- The first half was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading baskets early. Eight minutes in, the score was all tied up at 14, and Old Westbury managed to build a slim lead for much of the half.
- YU refused to let the Panthers pull away, as Samet, Cronin, Oselka, Roy Itcovichi, and Effy Freundlich kept the offense clicking as the team traded blows, and the Macs trailed 34-32 at halftime.
- A quick bucket out of intermission tied things at 36, and then it was showtime. Back-to-back three-pointers from Samet and Zakheim kicked off a 12-2 run, flipping the game upside down and putting Yeshiva up 48-38
-From there, the lead only grew. The Macs controlled the tempo, stretched their advantage to as many as 19 points with just over two minutes remaining, and never looked back en route to an 81-62 win.

Second Half Surge:

Zevi Samet's Explosion:

Team Basketball & Ball Movement:
The offense was clicking, finishing 18 assists as a team. Max Zakheim (7 assists), Sam (4), and Nin (4) kept the ball moving, leading to high-percentage) shots and open looks from deep. Their ability to share the ball and find the best shot made all the difference.
