Gameday Preview: Yeshiva VS Sarah Lawrence

The Macs are heading back into familiar territory — and not the comfortable kind.

Yeshiva travels to Sarah Lawrence for a showdown with the Gryphons, the reigning Skyline Gold Division champions, on the same floor where the Macs survived an instant classic last season, escaping with a heart-stopping 72–71 win in the Skyline semifinals.

Start with Brady Burman, a steady, physical presence who does a little bit of everything and never lets the game drift out of control. Then there’s Eamon Kelly, one of the most explosive scorers in the conference — and a name Macs fans haven’t forgotten. Kelly’s half-court buzzer-beater at the MSAC last season still echoes around the gym walls.

And inside, Chris Dougherty looms. At 6-foot-10, the forward is relentless on the glass and forces opponents to earn every rebound, every second-chance opportunity, every clean look in the paint.

Own the glass against Dougherty:

Dougherty’s size changes possessions. Limiting second chances and finishing defensive rebounds will be non-negotiable if Yeshiva wants to dictate terms of this tilt.

Make Eamon Kelly work for every touch:

Kelly doesn’t need volume to do damage. He needs space. Yeshiva must force him into contested looks, chase him off his spots, and stay connected even when he gives the ball up — especially late.

Don’t confuse control with comfort:

In their 80-74 win over Mount Saint Vincent on Sunday, Yeshiva had control — until it got comfortable. Experimenting is fine, but against Sarah Lawrence, relaxed possessions turn into instant runs. One stop didn’t end possessions against UMSV. Second chances kept the door open. With Dougherty inside, every rebound must be finished like it’s the last play of the game.
