Gameday Preview: Yeshiva @Maritime

Same mission. Different gym.

The Macs hit the road riding the momentum of their last one, and the assignment doesn’t change: take care of business.

Yeshiva enters the matchup against Maritime playing its best basketball of the season and sitting at a perfect 11–0 in Skyline play. The confidence is real, the rhythm is there, and the identity is clear. When this team defends, runs, and shares the ball, conference games tend to tilt fast — no matter the building.

Maritime comes in as an inferior opponent on paper, but road games have a way of testing focus. Can YU bring its energy with no home crowd behind it? Can it set the tone early and drain the belief out of the gym before it ever grows? That’s the challenge — and it’s one the Macs have answered consistently in Skyline play.

Keep the offense flowing — don’t let it stall

In their 110-72 win over Merchant Marine, YU was lethal because the ball never stuck. Yes Zevi Samet set the tone with his record-breaking 52 point outburst, but the damage came from movement: Max Zakheim spacing the floor, Yoav Oselka punishing mismatches inside, and multiple players touching the ball every possession. That balance is what turned an early run into a blowout. On the road, that same unselfish flow has to travel.

Defend first, then run

What made Saturday snowball wasn’t just shot-making — it was stops. When Yeshiva strung together defensive possessions, the pace flipped instantly. Oselka anchored the paint, guards pressured the ball, and transition chances followed. Keep defending with purpose and Maritime won’t be able to keep up for long stretches.

Same edge, different gym

The biggest takeaway from the Merchant Marine game was discipline. Whether the lead was 10 or 40, the Macs played the same way. That maturity has to show again on the road. Leaders like Samet and Oselka set the emotional tone, while the bench keeps the energy high. If YU brings that same focus, the game never gets uncomfortable.
