The Tier III Championship features two teams with unique styles of play. Ida Crown features a smaller lineup with many capable outside shooters, including the Sarachek Three Point champion, Benny Albom.
Following a tough loss at the Frisch School on Friday, Ida Crown, led by Benny Albom’s shooting and dominant defense, went on a 15-0 run to begin their third quarter against Katz Yeshiva and never looked back, winning the game by 26.
Beren has had an excellent tournament thus far, despite losing on Friday as well. On Thursday, Akiva Garner took over the game in the fourth against Cooper. On Sunday, despite recording three fouls, Garner encouraged his teammates off the court, and when coach Lew Disque put him in the game, Garner delivered, helping Beren turn a deficit into an eventual 12 point win. Freshman Ariel Diner delivered on the court, running Beren’s slow-paced offense, and was tenacious when driving to the basket for layups.
