Gameday Preview: Men’s Basketball vs Mount Saint Vincent

On Monday night, December 5, the Yeshiva University Maccabees will travel to play the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins. The Macs are coming off a game against Mount Saint Mary in which they had to fight all game in order to pull out a victory. They struggled in the first half to take care of the ball and to find ways to put the ball in the basket. They found their stride in the second half, however, scoring 51 points to close out the opponent at home. Oren Betesh has been killing it lately, shooting 55% from three on the season on 6.5 attempts per game. He’s been averaging 18 points per game in his last five. Roy Itcovichi is also coming off a big game in which he put up 22 points and barely missed on the highlight of the year trying to posterize a Mount Saint Mary defender.

The Dolphins enter tonight’s contest with a 1-4 record on the short season. Simply put, they consistently struggle to score. They have had two games this year where they failed to reach 40 points. Junior guard Joshua Cabezudo has been their best scorer this year. He’s had some big games, but against better competition this season he’s had two games with only six points each. Dan Porcic is the other guy to watch out for. He’s been struggling as of late, but he is more than capable of giving you 15-plus points on any given night. Bench guard Aaron Darab is someone to watch out for. He can wreak havoc on ball handlers defensively. He’s averaging three steals a contest. The Dolphins have their hands full tonight against a high-powered offensive attack.
