Gameday Preview: Men's Basketball vs Farmingdale State

On Saturday night, November 19, the Yeshiva University Maccabees will host the Farmingdale State Rams. The Rams were voted as the preseason favorite to win the Skyline conference after being the regular season champions a season ago, but lost their first game to NYU and are currently 1-1 this season. After falling to 0-2 on the season, the Macs have won their last two games with Zevi Samet putting on phenomenal shooting displays. In their last game, Samet scored 40 points on 14-21 shooting.

Last season, the two teams split the season series with the Macs beating Farmingdale on the road, before being upset at home by a score of 79-75. The Rams leading scorers in that game were Nick Hurowitz and Aaron Davis, who have returned this year as well as junior point guard Jevon Santos. Big man Tre Riggins is averaging nine points and seven rebounds per game. Corey Powell, a senior guard, is leading the Rams in scoring with 12.5 points per game.

In a limited sample size, Farmingdale has struggled with shooting from beyond the arc where they shoot just 29.3% as a team. They also have more turnovers than assists. While the Rams have struggled shooting from the perimeter, they have been able to clean up the misses with offensive rebounding. They are averaging 17.5 offensive rebounds per game, in comparison to 7.5 per game for the Macs. Rebounding help from all positions will be critical for the Macs in order to limit the opportunities for the Rams.
