Gameday Preview: (2) YULA vs (3) Flatbush

In the second Tier I semifinal game in the Max Stern Athletic Center, the #2 seed YULA Panthers will face off against the #3 seed Flatbush Falcons. Both teams faced big tests in their matchups on Friday, but YULA hung on and beat Ida Crown 57-52 in overtime, while Flatbush beat Beth Tfiloh 73-43.

YULA was on the ropes against Ida Crown, and they were down by three points with less than 30 seconds to go, but Alex Gabbay knocked down a game-tying three-pointer to send the game to overtime and YULA avoided the upset.

Flatbush is on a mission to play in another championship game after their loss to Magen David in the Yeshiva League Championship last week. They’ve won their first two games against Fuchs Mizrachi and Beth Tfiloh, respectively, by at least 30 points, and they are coming into this matchup against YULA with the utmost confidence.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

The Panthers are led by Yishai Rosenblatt and Alex Gabbay, two guys who are very skilled offensively and have posted double-figure points in each of the first two tournament games. Also look for Judah Robin to be the facilitator on the offensive end, as he’s averaging four assists a game as well.

For Flatbush, seniors Isaac Cooper and Beni Keda have accounted for much of the offense in the tournament thus far. Keda posted a double-double against both Fuchs and Beth Tfiloh, and don’t be surprised to see him pick up another one on Sunday against YULA.
