Gameday Preview: #14 Ida Crown vs. #19 Hebrew Academy of Montreal

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

Hailing from Skokie, Illinois, Ida Crown enters the Sarachek Tournament with a record of 9-12, earning them the #14 seed. Led by the all-around play of big man Joseph Wortman and the scoring of Ben Miller and Ilan Khanrose, the Aces have put up some tough fights against strong teams in their conference. Look for Ida Crown to come out strong as a higher seed in the opening game of this year’s tournament.

All the way from Montreal, the Hebrew Academy Heat come into the tournament looking to cool off the opposition. Look for the three headed monster of Yoni Drazin, Eitan Levy and Ethan Fallenbaum to light up the scoreboard. Having already faced some Yeshiva League competition, the Heat are looking to shock the world.

Look for Ida Crown to put up points early off the three ball. They’ll push it in transition, and with their physical attack will look to terrorize Hebrew Academy’s offense. Wortman’s size will become a factor quickly in this game as well. On the flip side, watch for a strong defensive effort by Hebrew Academy. They’ll likely play a man-to-man defense and get steals to push them out into transition. Expect Yoni Drazin to attack the basket and put points on the board for the Heat. This game, featuring two physical teams, should be a low scoring affair with a defensive mindset throughout.
