Frisch holds on against Maimo

Danny Weinberger hit a layup at the beginning of the second half to bring Frisch within one. But he didn’t put his head down and jog back on defense. He pressured the Maimonides point guard and forced a steal. He then dove on the floor and got fouled as he attempted to pick it up, earning himself an open court foul, which resulted in five more points for Frisch and a lead they never relinquished.

Maimonides led after the first half, 25-22, with eight points coming from Jesse Spear. After Frisch started the second half on a 9-0 run to take a 31-25 lead, the game went back and forth throughout the third quarter, ending with a 39-34 Frisch lead. After an and-1 three by Eitan Pomper cut the Frisch lead to 44-41, a quick three and two transition layups by Danny Weinberger--including one behind the back layup--gave Frisch the 51-41 advantage. Jake Fromen then hit a mid-air, one-handed put back to shift all momentum Frisch’s way, as Frisch competed the victory by a 58-49 total.
