Bulldogs Pull Off the Upset Against the Cougars in Tier I Qualifier

Yavneh started the game off on a huge 19-3 run with multiple threes from the whole roster. Frisch did not back down though, and ended the first quarter on a 7-0 run to make it 19-10 at the end of the quarter.

Frisch kept their momentum going in the second quarter, and continued the run they started in the first quarter. Alex Zakheim hit a big three to cap off a 17-0 run and to take the lead 20-19. After blowing the lead, Yavneh calmed down and played their game and closed out the half to go up 33-27.

The third quarter was back and forth with lots of good defense from both sides. Frisch’s extended 2-3 made it tough for Yavneh to get going, and Frisch cut Yavneh's lead to 42-40 heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter Yavneh cashed in from long range. Ben Rael hit three 3’s, along with one from Hillel Baynash to pull ahead. Frisch tried to come back, but could not keep up with The Bulldog’s shooting, losing 59-53.

With the win, Akiba Yavneh Academy will face the winner of the TABC vs. Fuchs Mizrachi game on Friday at 8AM at the Max Stern Athletic Center, while Frisch will go to the Tier II bracket and face Southern California Yeshiva on Friday at 12PM at the TABC gym.
