#16 MESIVTA OUTLASTS #17 VALLEY TORAH IN CHAOTIC TIER II QUALIFIER


This one was anything but pretty.  


In a game filled with turnovers, sloppy possessions, and three different Valley Torah players picking up technical fouls , Mesivta found a way to grind out a 55-44 win and punch their ticket to the Tier II Quarterfinals.


For most of the morning, neither team could get out of its own way. The tilt started at a snail's pace, tied 8-8 after one quarter, with both squads struggling to find any offensive flow. Mesivta took a 20-19 halftime lead, but the third quarter turned into chaos. A series of technical fouls and free throws swung momentum in Mesivta’s favor, and they stretched their  cushion to 40-29 entering the fourth.


Valley Torah made a late push, cutting the deficit to seven, but Dovi Hirsch drilled a massive three, followed by Tsvi Brill doing the same, and converting a clutch-and-one to seal the win. 


With the victory, Mesivta advances to face #3 DRS on Saturday night at 11:00 PM at TABC, with a spot in the Tier II Semifinals on the line. Valley Torah will square off against #20 Maimonides in Tier three.
