Weinbaum Finishes As Tier III Champions

After losing their first two games in Sarachek, the Weinbaum Storm have come back strong to win their last two games, most recently in a 47-27 blowout of the Maimonides M-Cats in the Tier III championship game.

With under a minute to go and the #2 seed Frisch Cougars down nine, Sarachek MVP JoJo Fallas continued to pour in points, as he added to #1 ranked Shalhevet�s steady lead. But standout guard Judah Cohen, who led the Cougars with 21 points, wasn�t ready to throw in the towel, instead hitting a three to cut Shalhevet�s lead 56-50. Despite another 3 from, Justin Hod, it was key free throws from point guard Ari Wachtenheim(nine points six rebounds) and Simcha Halpert (eight points, three rebounds) which sealed the Cougars� unfortunate fate, in this hard earned 62-53 Shalhevet victory.

When the final buzzer sounded, the MTA Lions claimed their Tier II Championship trophies with a 53-27 victory over the MJBHA Cougars.

Despite a late fourth quarter comeback bid by the North Shore Stars, the YULA Panthers were able to hold on for the 37-35 win in a Tier I consolation game.
In the fourth quarter, the Stars seemed to completely run out of steam, as the Panthers were able to pull away thanks to a strong offensive effort by Avi Zilberstein (13 pts, 8 reb, 1 ast).
