In the second game of the opening round Thursday, the fourteenth seed Fuchs Mizrachi Mayhem (Beachwood, OH) look to get rolling against the nineteenth seed Yeshiva Atlanta Lions (Atlanta, GA) a Tier-II qualifying match up.

Mike Carter’s Mayhem, who capped off a 15-7 season with a first place finish in the Detroit Tournament hosted by Akiva, are led by point guard Akiva Lautman and shooting guard Yonaton Spero, who combine to average 26 points per game.  Big man Jonny Jaffe leads the team with 4 rebounds per game.

The Yeshiva Atlanta Lions have just completed a 10-13 campaign, but come into the tournament having won three of their last four regular season games. Rick Marcellino’s Lions feature a balanced scoring attack.  Point guard Myles Ratner leading the way with 13 points a game, with shooting guard Ethan Solomon and center Yondi Kadosh each averge just under 11 points.  The Lions’s interior defense has been hobbled with the loss of Avi Goodfriend to a season-ending knee injury, but power forward Ben Brasch and small forward Josh Weissman have ably stepped in.

The game will be broadcast live in high definition by MacsLive, available at www.macslive.com.  The winner will go to the Tier-II quarterfinals, with the loser moving to the Tier-IV semifinals on Saturday night.
